Meet Our Staff

  • DrHerald
    Dr. Christina Herald
    Optometrist

Dr. Herald comes to Fall River Vision with a decade worth of experience in the optometric field. There are four levels of optometric licensing in MA, and she holds the highest one which qualifies her to treat glaucoma and prescribe oral medication. This is great news because it means less traveling around to many different specialists.

Dr. Herald graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 2014- the same school as Dr. Posner (but not the same year :-)). She has many years of experience working in community health care settings and with ophthalmologic surgeons. She is able to do a complete eye exam in Spanish.

Dr. Herald's love for her work shows in how she cares for her patients. Her passion is medical eye care, especially focusing on supporting eyes through increased hours working on a screen, just like you are now. She wants your eyes to be healthy and feel comfortable as much as she wants your vision to be clear.

Perhaps the coolest thing about Dr. Herald is that she is very philanthropic. She serves our community by doing at home eye exam visits for patients who otherwise would not have ever had a chance at an eye exam. Her mobile patients describe her as “a special light in the world”. She also volunteers in several organizations as a mentor for young optometrists and entrepreneurs, and she is midway through AOA Leadership Institute where she has been working with other doctors across different states in order to better the profession. She also volunteers her time to give free exams and glasses to patients in financial need and has worked hard to secure partnerships that allow her to provide eye care at no cost to those in qualified communities. See more on that here.  She is a leader in the field of optometry and she is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Massachusetts Society of Optometry.

Dr. Herald worked her way through college as a licensed cosmetologist. She is a former roller derby player. She is a dog mom, and she is married to her high school sweetheart. She is originally from MA and graduated from UMass Boston with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

It’s usually hard to adjust to a new doctor, and it can sometimes feel impossible to connect with medical professionals. Dr. Herald is super professional, relatable, and she explains things in a way you can get on board with. If you are even considering the possibility of seeing Doctor Herald, give her a chance. You will love her after your very first visit- just take a look at what patients say about her.

  • DSP
In Loving Memory of Dr. Douglas Posner
    Optometrist

Dr. Douglas Posner was our founding doctor. He was a wonderful man and a beacon of peace, kindness, and gentleness, always ready with a corny Dad joke to brighten your day or make your annual eye exam a little more enjoyable.

In recent years, Dr. Posner faced several challenges, including the fire at our office and some health issues that led to his early passing.

True to his generous spirit, Dr. Posner continues to help others even in death by being an organ donor. He donated several organs, including his liver and, fittingly, his corneas—ensuring that his legacy of improving others' vision lives on.

We are proud to carry forward Dr. Posner’s legacy of excellent patient care at Fall River Vision, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

  • Mary Ann
    Licensed Optician

Mary Ann is our fantastic optician. She has 20 years experience and constantly keeps up with current fashions in eyewear as well as the latest lens technology. She can help you and your family pick out the perfect frames and lenses. She is also Dr. Herald's mother.

  • Gabby
    Frames Stylist

Gabby is our multitalented frames stylist. Her true passion is helping you find frames that look great on you. Most patients say she can help them find something they love in less than half the time when compared to looking on their own. She is able to pick something you might not have ever even thought about that absolutely works with your face shape and prescription to maximize your visual potential. Gabby said her favorite thing about her job is being able to impress people by how well they see with their new glasses. Gabby is super smart, and she knows almost every job in the office- optical, front desk, teching- she has done it all! We are so proud that Gabby is studying to become an optometrist :-). She is also fluent in Spanish. There is nothing Gabby can’t do! When she is not studying and achieving, Gabby likes to do Yoga in her spare time.

  • Cortney
    Medical Receptionist and Billing Specialist

Cortney is the newest member of the Fall River Vision team. In addition to being the first friendly face to greet you when you walk in, Cort goes above and beyond to do a lot of behind the scenes work to get things ready for you when you come in, such as checking your co-pays, making sure your insurance is active, and helping you get referrals. In short, she saves you a lot of time and money. Cortney also has a lot of great ideas and suggestions for improvements in our systems and processes and ideas for events. She is very familiar with event planning because her family owns HillCrest Alpaca Farm in Dartmouth. Here, she feeds, breeds, and cares for over 30 Alpacas! She is always hosting fun events at the farm, check it out here.
