Contact Lens Exams

At Fall River Vision, we strive to exceed your expectations when it comes to your eyes and vision care.  Dr. Christina Herald will discuss a variety of contact lens options with you to select the type that best fits your vision needs and lifestyle. Many new patients tell us that their contact lenses feel dry toward the end of the day. You have a lot of things to think about during your day- your contact lenses being dry should not be one of them. Our goal is to fit you in a lens that is so comfortable, you don't even think about it!

Evaluation

Prior to prescribing contact lenses, Dr. Herald determines what level of vision correction you require. Refractive error (commonly known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism depending on the error) is evaluated by measuring how the eyes focus when a series of different lenses are placed in front of them. At Fall River Vision, we specialize in astigmatism and difficult to fit contact lenses. To schedule an appointment for a vision evaluation with our Fall River optometrist, call (508) 673-2370 today.

Corrective Lenses

After determining the level of refractive error, Dr. Herald works with you to determine whether contact lenses or glasses are best for your lifestyle. If you suffer from certain conditions, such as dry eye or allergies, glasses may be the most comfortable corrective solution. Contact lenses are available in either soft or rigid gas permeable form. Contact lenses need to be changed daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly, depending on what type of lens you select. Specialized contact lenses, such as multifocal contact lenses, are also available for patients with special eye conditions. Call us at (508) 673-2370 if you are interested in learning if contact lenses are a good fit for you.

Cosmetic Lenses

Advances in contact lens technology have created great options for cosmetic and prosthetic lenses. Custom contact lenses can be created to camouflage any color variation or irregularity and produce a natural eye color. Cosmetic lenses are also available to transform your eye color. Call us at (508) 673-2370 and speak to our knowledgeable staff if you are interested in modifying or changing your eye color with contact lenses.

Medical Contact Lenses

We also offer custom fits in specialty contact lenses including scleral lenses for a variety of ocular conditions such as keratoconus, dry eyes, or corneal degeneration.

Myopia Control Lenses

We are proud to be one of the few providers in the SouthCoast with a myopia control clinic. We certified providers for MySight lenses, the only soft contact lens that is FDA approved for myopia management.

We also fit orthokeratology contact lenses. "OrthoK" lenses are rigid lenses that control eye shape in order to prevent increased nearsightedness that comes with excessive eye growth. Just like a retainer for your teeth, you can take these lenses out after a full night's sleep and be able to see clearly during the day without daytime glasses or contact lenses. This is a great solution for kids trying to prevent myopia, and also for swimmers, pilots, construction workers, dry eye patients, or anyone who cannot wear contact lenses during their day.

Eyeris Contact Lenses

Eyeris

Eyeris lenses are the best lenses that you have never heard of. Eyeris lenses are a high-quality cost effective daily contact lens that is price-controlled. The mission of Eyeris is to make sure that all patients are able to afford a high quality daily contact lens that do not dry out at the end of the day. These lenses use thermal technology so they actively heat up when you put them on in order to mold for a more comfortable, customized fit.

Why have you never heard of the lens? This lens is only available to the best eye doctors. In order to certify as a provider, the doctor must be a truly independent eye care provider, have a very highly rated practice, and be a significant contributor to the profession of optometry. We are proud to be the only practice in the area that is a certified provider of Eyeris contact lenses.
