Eye Examination
Drs. Posner and Herald uphold the highest standard in medical optometric care. They follow the American Optometric Association's recommendation routine eye exams should be performed yearly, even if there is no need for corrective lenses. Many medical conditions can have an affect on your eyes that would go undetected without routine eye exams, so eye exams are a very important part of your overall health.
Optos Retinal Imaging
Retinal Imaging is used to identify many eye diseases. Many eye problems can develop without warning and progress with no symptoms. Early on, you may not even notice any change in your vision. However, diseases such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, as well as other health problems such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected early with a thorough examination of the retina. By taking detailed images of each eye this non-invasive procedure allows your eye doctor to see a much broader and more detailed view of the retina than is possible with conventional methods.
Glaucoma Testing
Glaucoma is an eye disease that can be permanently blinding. Visual Field Testing is most frequently used to detect any signs of glaucoma. A visual field test is a method of measuring patient's entire scope of vision -central and peripheral (side) vision. Visual field tests are also useful for the detection of central or peripheral retinal disease, eyelid conditions (such as ptosis or "drooping"), optic nerve disease, and diseases affecting the visual pathways of the brain.
